3 Refuges & 5 Precepts
One becomes a proper Buddhist when one takes the Threefold Refuge int he Triple Gem - the Buddha, the Dharma (the Buddha's teachings) and the Sangha (well-trained practitioners of the Dharma). Ideally, a Buddhist should also observe the Five Precepts. The Triple Gem is our spiritual guide, steering us towards liberation and Enlightenment. Whereas the Five Precepts are moral guidelines of conduct that serve to protect ourselves from committing non-virtuous deeds. They help us sow the seeds of peace and happiness in our everyday life. What does faith and understanding of the Triple Gem encompass? What forms the essence of the Five Precepts? Come discover with us, the very foundations of what it takes to be a good Buddhist.
